Jack has taken a genuine liking to Mark. I think there's a much more natural chemistry with Mark than there was with Travis. Mark asked Jack about his musical tastes, bands he listens to. And he is teaching him some songs Jack is familiar with. They are seemingly very compatible.

Quick note on Cole's first lesson. He was very excited after his first sit down with Alan this Tuesday. I observed a portion of the lesson and Alan seems to be very patient - which is important considering my son is a true beginner. Seems like a good fit - Thank you.

Kevin was thrilled with the first lesson and how much material was covered. He/I liked how it was written down to refer back to for practice plus questions. He also liked that there wasn't a lot of time going over the same material so they could cover more ground and he could just practice it on his own. Hopefully he'll continue to practice what he's learned!

Hi Bhagwan! Just lettin' you know we had a great first lesson. mark is a really nice guy. this wasn't exactly the ideal teaching situation...since my daughter eloise woke from her nap while he was here. luckily, our babysitter was here to help, but eloise cried the whole time. mark was very patient and sweet. and we learned a lot.
We're on for next week at the same time. i'm gonna try to make a better set up for a calmer learning environment. i've gotta live and learn a little!

Thank you for checking in. The lessons seem to be going really well. I think Ezra and David seem to be a good match. Ezra is actually practicing without being told. He even jumps up and practices during commercial breaks when he's watching TV. That's impressive!

I think it is going well. Jack seems to be warming to Will. Will seems very gentle and sweet and talented. He is gently encouraging Jack and engaging him on an intellectual level that Jack respects. Jack seems to be getting more comfortable. He doesn't want to do the recital. We'll keep talking about it and see where we get.

Bhagwan: We are absolutely thrilled with Alan - he has inspired Ian and they are a great fit. Alan teaches him at least one song that is fun (rock or blues) each lesson and Ian practices all week. Thank you so much for getting my daughter Darcey together with Jack! He is a wonderful teacher and we both love him. I think he and Darcey hit it off extremely well on the very first lesson, and we like him more each time we see him. He is positive, patient, and encouraging and it seems like he has been teaching a long time, even though he is quite young. Darcey looks forward to "Jack The Guitar Man Night" every week, and I enjoy listening to them work together. We both appreciate the fact that he comes some distance to visit us in our home on a weekly basis. We really look forward to enjoying Jack as a teacher for as long as possible!

I cannot say enough great things about Joel. I have learned so much from him in a short time and I have been playing the piano since I was 7. He is truly gifted as an artist and holds a special talent in teaching and communicating that artistry as well. Brian is not thrilled with the discipline for daily practice and we are working on that...but he is already doing an octave with two hands in the C major scale. I am pleased with the foundation Joel is building with Brian.

How are you? Ricardo's lessons are going GREAT! I hope Ms. Brandi likes him as much as he likes her. He gives her a hard time, sometimes, but he really enjoys playing the piano with her and he enjoys impressing her by practicing. In addition to their usual lessons, Ms. Brandi is also teaching Ricardo blues notes. I don't know how she does it all with him because he can be a handful, but he likes the blues notes better than the lessons! I am really looking forward to the recital in a few weeks and I look forward to meeting you and Brad. Thanks for the follow-up.

I love my classes with Ron, he is so cool. Ron is a great teacher and I'm really learning from him what I needed. Ron gives so much of his knowledge that you want to practice when you come home, he makes learning the keyboard very interesting and fun.

Just wanted to let you know that my son had his first lesson with Brandi this past Friday night. She is really a lovely young lady and my son ADORED her! He was really quite smitten, I must say, and Brandi was so very patient with him. I was very impressed and look forward to working with her. Thanks to Brandi, my son can now play his favorite song, "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and we heard it all weekend long! That's okay because he is showing an interest in taking more lessons and that's all that matters.

Wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know how happy we were with the lesson yesterday. Eric Smith is a great guy and had a very gentle and thoughtful approach to observing Billy and seeing how they could work together. His teaching instincts are also very positive and clearly take into account what he judges to be the right pace for Billy.
So, again, thanks for your expert guidance and for finding Eric to teach Billy. Eric and I were able to talk a bit about Billy's learning style and Eric seems totally comfortable with seeing what works and then experimenting with that.
I am sorry that Eric has to come from so far, but he seemed to be ok with it. Lucky for us I guess! But Billy really seemed to enjoy it, and I had a blast watching them. So bottom line is we couldn't be happier about the good start!

Julien's new bass clarinet just came on Friday so that should really kick it up. Thanks to Don we got it from oodwind/Brasswind and saved $300+ over buying it locally. I LOVE my cello teacher and my cello lessons. She is really great and the time just flew by. She really made me enthusiastic about the cello again. It's funny you mention referral, because I have a friend who is interested in learning the viola. He lives in North Beach in Calvert County, near Prince Frederick. Do you have teachers in that area?
